In 2011, ICCIC undertook the Center for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) Global Women Management Project — Promoting Women’s Economic Participation Opportunity. In fulfilment of the project plan, in July 2011, an ICCIC international project group went to Shaanxi Huaxian County to conduct training activity, and followed up with the cooperatives participating training through phone in September and October. The result is as follows:

2. Skill application: more openminded through training. Expanded the membership and business to other counties.

2. Training skill application: organization management is strengthened.

Huaxian County Countryside Melon Cooperative

2. Training skill application: improved management ability; learnt more about the cooperatives.

2. Training skill application: finance disclosure, finance system improvement, better understanding and of management and operation

Huaxian County Lűye Union Cooperative

2. Skill application: former smallholder consciousness, upon training, management ability is improved, operation broadened, and peasant-school connection is being started, becoming increasingly prosperous.

Huaxian County Dragon & Phoenix Shadow Puppet Cooperative

1. Number of new members: decrease by 9 households (The raw material cost of shadow puppet increased, sales price is unchanged, net income reduced, some members left for other employment)

2. Training skill application: improve the cooperatives operation and management ability, continued improvement of  financial management, some new ideas for development.

 

Shaanxi Huaxian County project which is implemented by ICCIC has yielded some results. The leaders of the cooperatives have provided feed back that they have made certain gains after training, mainly reflected in that the size of the cooperatives has increased, operation and management ability and sales ability are improved, the regulations and system of cooperatives have further improved through training and direction, the finance is more open and transparent, and the cohesion of the cooperatives is strengthened.
