Dairy Cooperative of Fu Meng County Becomes the “Mother Home” of Dairy Farmers

Dairy Cooperative of Fu Meng County implements its function of cooperation, serving, legal rights safeguarding and self-discipline as well as improve the communication among the government, dairy farmers and enterprises. It becomes the real “Mother Home” of 1700 dairy families from 26 communities of cow breeding for promotion of sustainable development of dairy in the whole county. Presently, there is over seventeen thousands cows livestock on hand in entire county.
In recent years, Fu Meng County has gained a considerable development of dairy industry. 30 towns have had an atmosphere to set up communities for strengthening the base of dairy cows through home breeding and outsourcing high-quality cows. However, the anti-risk capability is very week because farmers usually do the business in separate ways and “Each fights his own battle”. Especially, due to the decentralized operations and less number of meadow that has over hundred cows, the death, disabled and natural selection cows annually take 2% of livestock on hand. In August of 2006, Fu Meng County set up the Dairy Cooperative and Cattle Chamber.
Since they started for one year, demonstrate with typical examples and make effort to improve the breeding scales and quality. It has 3 years since 2005, and which is the tough period of dairy development such like the low purchasing price of material milk, decrease of the rearing benefit and deficit of some breeding families. For these reasons, cooperative and chamber contacted with material milk purchaser in time and they have the protective price as precondition and then increase the purchasing price step by step. Meanwhile, they actively offer service to lavish breeding families to promote their breeding standard and stabilize the livestock on hand, production per unit yield to gain more profit. The up-date number livestock on hand has reached 17,800 and it is 7.2 times than in 2002.
From 2008 to 2009, cooperative invited Dr. Jackstone from Australia, technologists from Jin Zhou Lu Zhou Oasis Forage Coop, Ltd and technologists from Beijing Sanyuan Luhe Dairy Group to delivered speeches, organized seminars and gave instructive teaching on the ground at communities as well as cooperative organized lavish breeding families to take part in workshops organized by municipal association for science and Israel experts regarding to husbandry techniques. They also helped some new breeding families lacking of experience to give on-the-spot guidance with experienced laving cow breeding families.
From 2006 to 2007, corn, bean pulp and other forage’s price went up sharply; dairy farmers, purchasers, milk stations and processors have unreasonable profit disposition so that the enthusiasm of cow breeding of dairy farmers showed largely fluctuate. Therefore, cooperative and chamber urgently held the joint conference inviting some proprietors of milk stations to present to discuss the detail solution toward the mild price, administration expenses, transportation expenses and other problems as well as negotiated with Yili Group, Kang Yuan Feed Technologies Ltd, and other enterprises to guarantee the material milk purchasing price have a relative increase under the stable development.
