From February 23 to 26, 2009, ICCIC secretary-general Du Yintang and ICCIC project officer Wu Haili went to Huang Village, Tongji Town, Pengzhou City to give some training and coaching according to the project plan. The objective was to:1. baseline survey; 2. introducing the goal, tasks, items and requirements of the project to local farmers; and 3. conducting the training in democratic participation and participatory formulating development plans.
On February 24th, they came to Huang Village for baseline survey accompanied by Zhou Xiaoye and Section Chief Xing from the Municipal Rural Development Bureau of Pengzhou. The survey was mainly made by means of questionnaire and 16 questionnaires for farmers plus one for Huang Administrative Village collected. In the afternoon the project personnel had an informal discussion with Chen Wanqing, the director general of the Municipal Rural Development Bureau of Pengzhou and introduced the specific conditions of the project. Director General Chen expressed his gratitude to New Zealand-China Friendship Society and ICCIC for assistance to the earthquake disaster area and said he would give full support to the project.
On February 25th, “China-New Zealand Livelihood reconstruction in Pengzhou country, Sichuan, China” training cause were conducted in the conference room of the Municipal Rural Development Bureau of Pengzhou and 28 people, including 8 women participated. The main items of the training include introduction to the project, EU’s methods of guiding development of rural district, Participatory Rural Appraisal, participatory methods and tools, etc.
