On Saturday 18 October, a ceremony was held in Tsing Hua University for the establishment of the Israel Epstein Research Center.

Israel Epstein, know fondly as Eppy to many of his friends, served as Vice Chair of ICCIC until shortly before his death. The ceremony marked the donation to Tsing Hua of 6382 books from Eppy’s collection. The gift was made by his widow, ICCIC member Huang Wanbi. ICCIC vice chair Michael Crook, and ICCIC former Secretary General Zhang Airong also attended the event.

            It was also announced at the event that during the upcoming centenary celebrations of Tsing Hua, a reading room dedicated to Eppy’s memory will be opened in the university library, and a scholarship fund will also be established in his memory.
